Performance on Waja

In its initial years in the market, the Waja was originally powered by a Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi Motors is the fifth largest automaker in Japan and the fifteenth largest in the world by global unit sales. It is part of the Mitsubishi keiretsu, formerly the biggest industrial group in Japan, and was formed in 1970 from the automotive division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries....

The Mitsubishi Orion or 4G1 engine is series of straight-4 internal combustion engines introduced by Mitsubishi Motors in the 1970s, along with the Mitsubishi Astron engine, Mitsubishi Sirius engine, and Mitsubishi Saturn engine....

Overhead camshaft, commonly abbreviated to OHC, valvetrain configurations place the engine camshaft within the cylinder heads, above the combustion chambers, and drive the poppet valve or tappets in a more direct manner compared to overhead valves and pushrods....

In 2002, the 1.8 L variant was introduced, powered by the same engine used in Renault Laguna II

(VVT) technology. However, the 1.8 L model suffered from poor sales because Malaysian customers were more familiar with Japan.

The Proton Gen-2 is an automobile manufactured by Malaysian carmaker Proton , and was launched in the third quarter of 2004. The Gen-2 uses a platform which is mostly Malaysian-developed....

Campro engine used in the Waja has higher power and torque, probably due to the remapping of the ECU.

In automotive electronics, an electronic control unit , also called a control unit, or control module, is an embedded system that controls one or more of the electrical systems or subsystems in a vehicle.... and also a different air intake system. The 2008 Proton Waja is now powered with a Campro CPS engine.

The Campro engine is the first automotive engine ever developed together with Lotus Cars by the Malaysian carmaker, Proton . The name Campro is short for Cam Profile....
with variable valve timing, which was not available in the previous Waja Campro models.

The Waja Chancellor, which launched 2006, featured a longer wheelbase and was powered by a Mitsubishi 6A12.

The Mitsubishi 6A1 engine is a series of V6 piston engine from Mitsubishi Motors, found in their small and medium vehicles through the 1990s. They ranged from 1.6 L to 2.5 L in size, and came with a variety of induction methods and cylinder head designs and configurations....

Proton Perdana.

The Proton Perdana is a mid-size car produced by Proton . It is a badge engineering version of the Mitsubishi Galant#Seventh generation....
also sourced from Mitsubishi. The car is also available only with a 4-speed automatic transmission.
